Open Letter to CHEK News

Good morning, Mr. Perkins, Mrs. Stacey Ross, Mr. Rob Germain

I hope to can take 5 minutes to read my letter to you as the new news director of Chek news and a partner in the Ownership of the company. In my call to you asking for and interview for running for a position in the next Victoria election and was told You wouldn’t do it as I’m unknown to you and that if you did it for me you would get calls from other candidates running for a chance at mayor or councilors position and there are 1 mayor seat and 8 councilor’s seat available for each municipality across B.C you can’t do it for all candidates due to time restrictions and I understand that said in all fairness you should know me as I ran in the last election and you sat as a reporter representing Chek New sitting next to Stacey and Then mayor on air giving your report as well as reporters and David who you relied on to tell you who was running and their opinion on who should be the next mayor and councilor’s .

As the HR department for the city of Victoria to do job interview you had a process to go thru and decide who would be a good fit for the job and should of known who the 8 people who applied for the job, Since you were a busy person running your own company you relied on others to go through the candidates for the job without taking the time the people who vented the applications and gave you reports on who would be a good fit . In error they gave you some wrong advise to then news Director Steve FEE and Manager Rob Germain yourself and Stacey Ross ass all of you were busy. Last election being a new Candidate and unsure how the process I thought the media companies would talk to me as they also talk to me and help get the word out and Cfax was very good to me and helped me out Ryan Price, Adam sterling gave me 5 minutes of their time and also invited me to an all mayor candidate debate on air which I did great at. However, your Mr. Black I met at a event jurying the election and I asked him to talk to me as watching your station and relied on who he is and that her gave his opinions would be a good idea, but he wouldn’t give me the time to talk to him. Rob Shaw, who works for your station as the Political, reported he never contacted me either but gave reports on air to your reporters covering the news jurying and including the night of the election. Since an error was made in the last elections, I will tell you who the candidates were . Marriane Alto a SAANICH resident and unable to cast a Vote in the election and found a loop hole in the rules of the election non stake holder of Victoria ,Stephen, a gentleman from Esquimalt, myself Lyall Atkinson as born and raised Victorian, small business and a resident Taxpayer ,1 drug dealer ,1 Gentleman Mr. Johnston who started the camping in Victoria , A gentleman new to Victoria and the most covered Candidate of Victoria mayor oral race a woman who was on a CANADA wide warrant and still on the ballot.

So as I plan on Running for either you have afforded sitting mayor and councilors a chance to say if they are running for mayor and a Lady who owns a downtown business to release their intention’s , and let out a possibility the former chief of police Del Manak may or may not run (puts me in limbo as to which office to run for)as he hasn’t said yes or no but possibly based on your reporters report on air, So thinking I would officially put my name in the hat know I’m in limbo to decide if I go for the mayors job or go to council but I’m 100%percent running but have time to decide which office and get the word .As the election had many hurdles to jump thru I thought I would get prepared for 2026 as I want to get my ducks in a row

I called and talked to you about how I felt I was treated last election and felt by your coverage was tilted to two main Candidates for mayor of Victoria and a good Candidate new to politics would or maybe a better person for the job received no mention jurying you coverage of the election and don’t want it to happen this time around and again to call me closer to the election. As the best known media company locally owned Victoria company I was hoping for fair coverage as other have a leg up such as the mayor and Council members get a 8 month head start and I’d get 8 weeks to get the word out.

Please remember when chek news almost faded to black, Some one who got the idea to say your station and your job he or she couldn’t do it alone put the idea out to seeif anyone thought the were crazie or if they could get a group together and pool all your money together and save not only Chek news but many many jobs and Rob Germain ,Stacey Ross and Joe perkins would have to find new jos or possibly loos you homes ,but you all took the risk lucky for you had good people who ne how to orginize a campaineand the community got involve. You had at your desposal a news room,air time ,good directors camera operrator, media relations member and co works below your pay grade who all came to be a group . And a former owner who had money and could care less about you and staff if they closed it out ,lucky for youa busy person gave you not only 5 minutes but many hours to meet and allow you to get the funds together and make him an offer, every one took a chance on your idea and cashed out RRSP’S,loans on home begged barrowed and yes ask everyone in Victoria to donate to save not only Chek news and your jobs and holmes .

I’m also a man with a Vision to fix what the former mayor and current and councils have done to VICTORIA. And know the mayor is coming up for realection sheis using media and10.2 million to clean up Pandora and downtown Victoria a mess she and Lisa Helps created 11 years ago by inviting every homeless person to Come to Victoria with a promiss to get then housing,food,cell phones,Drugs at no costand no rules. Lisa helps knowing people were not happy dicided to no run againwanted anew job using her connections to Carol James she set up a position in the NDP ministry of housing as not a new employee , but an assistance Director .Carol James daughter need a job so she made her a Manager of bike lanes and Marriane became the new Mayor indorced juring the election by Lisa Help in station at Chek news 50/50 chance of Marriane winning over Stephen Andrew’s former councilors that why I took a run at it being new and a RESIDENT of VICTORIAI didn’t like my options
